PARADE OF SHIPS KICKS OFF
24th ANNUAL FLEET WEEK CELEBRATION

New York City’s 24th annual Fleet Week celebration will kick off with the “Parade of Ships” on Wednesday, May 25th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  Media is welcome to view the parade from Pier 86 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at 46th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattan.  Military flyover will take place between 10:00 and 10:30 AM.   U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will be available for interview from 10:00 to 10:15 AM.

Hundreds of service men and women in the armed forces will sail into New York City aboard nine vessels: the USS Iwo Jima (LHD7), USS Kauffman (FFG59), USS Carr (FFG52), USS John L. Hall (FFG32), USS New York, USCG Katherine Walker, USCG Tampa, USCG Willow and USCG Reliance.

The ships will pass Intrepid en route to the George Washington Bridge, where they will turn around and sail back to the respective piers where each vessel will be berthed for the Fleet Week festivities.

The Parade of Ships officially kicks off this year’s Fleet Week festivities that take place from May 25-30.  Each year, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum hosts a variety of popular Fleet Week activities and events that includes athletic challenges between groups of visiting members of the armed forces, military displays and demonstrations and a special Memorial Day ceremony.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is proudly supported by Bank of America.
