2,400 Children to participate in program
[New York, NY, June 28, 2007] Educators from the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will lead educational programs for camp groups aboard the paddlewheel boat, Queen of Hearts.
The program, which is a partnership with Friends of Hudson River Park, will begin on July 10, and run for four weeks. There will be two, two-and-a-half hour sessions per day, held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with each session accommodating 100 children.
The first half of each session will be in a classroom setting aboard the ship, and will focus on ecology and boating. The second half of each session will be spent cruising the Hudson River.
“We are thrilled that through our partnership with Friends of Hudson River Park, the Intrepid Museum, even while ‘on leave,’ is able to continue to honor, educate and inspire by leading programs about science fun and water exploration,” said Fredda Plesser, Chair and Executive Director of the Intrepid Museum’s Michael Tyler Fisher Center for Education.
The program will serve as a field trip for camp groups. Each attending group will participate in the program only once, which will facilitate exposing the maximum number of children to the program. All sessions of the program are fully booked.
