The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is the nation's premier destination of heroism, adventure and fun, hosting over 750,000 visitors from around the world each year. Through the museum's exhibits, educational programming and special events, visitors experience her rich history of service and learn about the humanity behind the hardware. The Intrepid Museum has just re-opened our new and improved museum complex.

The Intrepid Museum is looking for an outgoing, friendly and service oriented individual to join our Group Sales department.  This is a great opportunity to be a part of our exciting team as the Intrepid Museum! 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Greeting Group Sales visitors including school and camp groups, bands and choirs performing on site, senior groups, tour groups and birthday party guests, and providing them with an orientation and reiterating museum rules and regulations.
  • Checking in Group Sales visitors including reservation look-up and ticketing (printing and scanning).
  • Investigating and resolving customer problems.
  • Assisting performance groups – bands, choirs, and orchestras with set-up logistics.
  • Acting as Birthday Party Hosts for the numerous birthday parties held at the Intrepid. This will include providing information about the history of and exhibits in the museum, entertaining guests (ages usually range from 5 – 13 years old) and yes, wearing thematic costumes!
  • Participating in Operation Slumber, our sleep over program, by assisting with check in, tours, food service and at times sleeping over to aid with visitor needs.
  • Other Group Services duties as needed.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or 6 months or more of related customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Candidate should enjoy working with children.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for dealing with visitors and clients.  Proficiency with ticketing systems preferred but training on specific system will be provided.  This position requires working weekends and holidays. Salary: $10/hour.
