The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is the nation's premier destination of heroism, adventure and fun, hosting over 750,000 visitors from around the world each year. Through the Museum's exhibits, educational programming and special events, visitors experience her rich history of service and learn about the humanity behind the hardware.  The Intrepid Museum has just re-opened our new and improved museum complex.  This is a great opportunity to be a part of our exciting team! 

The Intrepid Museum is looking for Part-Time Box Office Staff.  Box Office Staff duties include delivering customer service through comprehensive product knowledge and efficient transactions, selling admission to the museum in the form of tickets and various packages and answering customer questions regarding museum events, options, and services.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Describing in detail pricing and ticket options to guests.
  • Encouraging guests to purchase ticket packages and additional products (upsells).
  • Informing guests of membership options, museum events, closings, restrictions, rules and other notices required by management.
  • Answering guest complaints and inquiries in person or via telephone.
  • Operating ticketing system and computing bill showing amount due.
  • Handling cash or credit card transactions, making change and issuing receipts and valid tickets to guests.
  • Responsible for accepting and verifying opening bank, accepting cash/credit cards from guests and then recording end of day receipts, preparing deposits for bank and validating deposit against ticketing system reports.
  • Cleaning and organizing assigned area, front counter, and back storage room as needed, to maintain a neat and orderly appearance.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 or more years of related cashier, box office, or customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  An ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers is required.  An ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percent is also required.  An ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form is necessary.  Candidates must be able to work weekends, holidays, and other evenings as necessary.
