Access Programs: The Intrepid is committed to providing interactive educational experiences to all visitors. We offer programming for students and teachers in grades K-12th grade of varying abilities, including those with learning disabilities, hard of hearing, or limited mobility. Little Sailors- Preschool, Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Encouraging discovery and play, Intrepid welcomes early childhood groups in this tour designed for our youngest visitors. In this tour designed for ages 3-6, children learn about discuss shapes and colors while focusing on modes of transportation.
Little ‘Nauts Tour - K- 2nd Grade
Our youngest visitors experience the cosmos through the lens of an Astronaut on a mission to outer space. Students will develop an understanding of space and how people travel there by examining three different types of spacecraft. Includes the Space Shuttle Pavilion.
Space Blast Tour – 3rd- 12th Grade
Intrepid’s role in the Space Race, early space pioneers, human exploration of the solar system and beyond are discussed. Special viewing inside the Space Shuttle Pavilion included.
Aviation – K-12th Grade
Exploring the restored aircraft collection, classes trace advances in flight, from propellers to jets to space vessels. Follow a visual timeline of the Intrepid’s mission through World War II, the Jet Age, the Space Race, Vietnam and beyond!
Stem to Stern - K-12th Grade
Experience the “greatest hits” the Museum has to offer including exhibit artifacts, the Flight Deck, aircraft collection, and historic spaces. The tour includes a look our newest artifact, space shuttle Enterprise.
Life Aboard the Intrepid - K-12th Grade
Investigating the humanity behind the hardware, students learn how the crew lived aboard this “city at sea.” Celebrate over 30 years of the ship’s legendary history and the 50,000 brave men who merged over the decades to become one “Fighting I.”
Exploreum Discovery Tour – K-5th Grade
In our Exploreum, housing hands-on interactive modules with themes of water, aviation, space, and life at sea, students make connections between artifacts and their own experiences by climbing in a helicopter, lying in the crews’ bunks, and sitting in the captain’s chair, and a tour of related spaces throughout the ship.
All Hands Tour
Through tactile discovery, gallery activities and object-based learning, students study the ship and aircraft collection. This specialized tour is intended for audiences with special needs.

| Education programs and school rates are only available with advance reservations. There is a group minimum of 15 people. Please make reservations at least two (2) weeks prior to the date in mind (for Monday visits, by Friday at 12:00pm). Reservations made within two (2) weeks of visit must be paid in full upon booking. Arrange your visit now by calling 646-381-5010 during our business hours - Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (Wednesday – Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm for Birthday Parties) or completing our Group Request Form. Due to high call volume, you may experience a longer than normal wait.
