Water Around & Around – K-2nd Grade
Looking at water use onboard Intrepid and in the world, young students discuss water’s importance on planet Earth and learn about the water cycle. Storytelling and art-making are key components of this program. |

Be a Marine Scientist – 3rd-8th Grade
Intrepid’s location on the Hudson River provides students with the opportunity to investigate the New York City’s aquatic ecosystem. Classes conduct salinity testing and examine preserved marine biomes from an estuary. |

MSI - Marine Science Investigation – 9th-12th Grade
Students are introduced to scientific applications used to examine aquatic environments. By conducting water quality tests on Hudson River water and discussing environmental impact humans have on water environments, students discover new ways of thinking about marine science and ecology. |

Up, Up & Away – K-5th Grade
The science of flight comes to life as students examine Intrepid’s aircraft collection and discuss biomimicry; how nature influences shape and design. Educators demonstrate the four forces of flight and students experiment with these concepts before creating their own flying machine.

High Flying Design – 6th–12th Grade
Classes explore Intrepid as an aircraft carrier, examining the machinery that makes flight at sea possible. With hands-on activities, students work in groups to demonstrate the physics behind flight.

Meet Alex the Ace! – K-2nd Grade
What was it like be a pilot on Intrepid? Through historic photos, classes meet Alex, an Ace pilot who flew off the ship and discuss what a “day in the life” for crew members might be like. Students learn about other jobs on the ship and write or draw about jobs in their own communities. |

Report to Duty – 3rd-5th Grade
Classes learn what it was like to be aboard Intrepid during a typical tour of duty during her 31 years of service. Through artifact examination, students become history detectives and uncover fascinating facts of Intrepid’s community.

Equality at Home and at Sea- 6th-12th Grade
This program uses Intrepid as a lens to examine race and gender issues in the military over the past 70 years. Students debate topics in Civil and Women’s Rights. |

Space Blast! – 6th-12th Grade
Beginning with Intrepid’s role as a recovery vessel for NASA during the Space Race, students explore advances in aircraft technology, as well as space in popular culture and history. Students apply the scientific method and reinforce math skills while designing and launching simple rockets. |

Education programs and school rates are only available with advance reservations. Please make reservations at least two (2) weeks prior to the date in mind (for Monday visits, by Friday at 12:00pm). Reservations made within two (2) weeks of visit must be paid in full upon booking. Arrange your visit now by calling 646-381-5010 during our business hours - Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (Wednesday – Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm for Birthday Parties) or completing our Group Request Form.
