Little Sailors - Preschool
Fostering curiosity and discovery in young learners, Intrepid welcomes pre-schools and childcare facilities. In this tour designed for ages 3-5, children learn about forms of transportation aboard the ship, as well as places that the crew ate, slept and worked. After discovering the exhibits, children can “play” in the Exploreum, our interactive learning zone.
Aviation – K-12th Grade
Exploring the restored aircraft collection, classes trace advances in flight, from propellers to jets to space vessels. Follow a visual timeline of the Intrepid’s mission through World War II, the Jet Age, the Space Race, Vietnam and beyond!
Stem to Stern – 5th-12th Grade
Providing a “greatest hits” of the Museum’s exhibit highlights, discover the most fascinating aspects of the Intrepid’s artifacts, including the flight deck, newly restored aircraft collection and anchor room.
Life Aboard the Intrepid - K-12th Grade
Investigating the humanity behind the hardware, students learn how the crew lived aboard this “city at sea.” Celebrate over 30 years of the ship’s legendary history and the 50,000 brave men who merged over the decades to become one “Fighting I.”
Exploreum Discovery Tour – K-4th Grade
In our Exploreum, housing hands-on interactive modules with themes of water, aviation, space, and life at sea, students make connections between artifacts and their own experiences by climbing in a helicopter, lying in the crews’ bunks, and sitting in the captain’s chair, and a tour of related spaces throughout the ship.
All Hands Tour
Through tactile discovery, gallery activities and object-based learning, students study the ship and aircraft collection. This specialized tour is intended for audiences with special needs.
