Growler

Tour Description:In April 1966, Intrepid was the American aircraft carrier that seemed least likely to play an attack role in Vietnam. More than 20 years old and incapable of operating the U.S. Navy’s heavier and more sophisticated aircraft, the ship was technologically and materially unprepared for much of what it would be asked to face. Learn how the crew of Intrepid overcame these challenges during the ship’s three tours of duty in the Vietnam War.

Tour length: 90 minutes

Suggested audience: Visitors ages 12 and up

Tour price: $450

Note: This tour will be available starting October 15, 2015, as it is part of programming for the Museum’s upcoming exhibition On the Line: Intrepid and the Vietnam War, which opens on October 16, 2015.

This tour requires long periods of walking and standing. The Intrepid Museum offers seating on the hangar and flight decks. Lightweight, portable stools are available upon request. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
