INTREPID 101
Tour Description: This 45 minute general tour highlights the history of the USS Intrepid from 1943 – 1974 and beyond. Your tour will include the ship's historic Forecastle, the Hangar Deck, where aircraft were maintained and stored, and the flight deck (weather permitting) which saw the launching of thousands of aircraft.
Recommended: Visitors ages 6 and up
PRICE/GROUP: $300

This tour is wheelchair accessible but does require long periods of walking and standing. The Intrepid Museum offers seating along the hangar and flight deck levels.

A Tour that Moves You Through History as it Moves Your Heart
Tour Description: Humanity Behind the Hardware, a 90 minute tour, focuses on stories of the men who lived and served aboard the Intrepid, a true city at sea. The tour includes heroic stories about other men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces and those who have supported and continue to support the men and women in uniform.

Salty Talk
Tour Description: Join Intrepid's tour guides for a funny, enlightening, family-friendly, 90-minute tour that will leave you saying, "Wow! I did not know that!" We'll explore the origins of everyday terms like, "shake a leg" and "under the weather" and explore how America's iconic brands like A-1 steak sauce got their names! As a bonus, each guest will receive a souvenir activity sheet to help remember the remarkable words discussed.

Story of intrepid: Vietnam
Tour Description: You may be surprised to learn that the USS Intrepid served longer in the Vietnam War than in World War II. From 1966 to 1969, Intrepid's airmen, supported by the ship's crew, flew over 15,000 missions through hostile skies over Vietnam. On this fascinating 90-minute tour, your guide will take you behind the Museum's exhibit barriers and share famous and little-known stories of Intrepid, her brave airmen, hard-working crew, and her spectacular aircraft.

The African American Journey in Sea, Air and Space
Tour Description: This 90 minute tour celebrates the accomplishments of little known African-Americans who were pioneers in the areas of sea, air and space. The tour will lead you back in time, highlighting many inspirational stories of men and women who heroically broke through barriers, paving the way for future generations. Stories included are that of USS Intrepid's Gun Tub-10, the brave ship stewards who fought to save the Intrepid from a kamikaze attack, Jesse Brown, the Navy's first African-American combat pilot who lost his life during the Korean war, Navy officer Dick Turpin, an African American Navy Diver who is credited with inventing the underwater cutting torch used at Pearl Harbor, Robert Lawrence America's first African-American astronaut who in 1967 was part of the Gemini MOL (Mannned Orbital Laboratory) program and many more.

Concorde: A Supersonic Story
Tour Description: This unique 60-minute guided tour of Concorde G-BOAD will introduce you to the fastest passenger aircraft to ever cross the Atlantic. Learn about the aerodynamic advances responsible for this technological marvel, designed in the 1960’s and operational until 2003.
This tour offers guests the rare opportunity to experience the comfort of Concorde’s luxurious first class cabin, followed by an up-close view of the aircraft’s stunningly complex flight deck.

Silent Service: The Story of the USS Growler Submarine
Tour Description: This 45-minute tour of the USS Growler will demonstrate the workings of the world's oldest existing nuclear missile-carrying submarine. Growler patrolled the Pacific coast of the Soviet Union from 1958 to 1964, ever ready to retaliate if the Soviets attacked the United States first.
Your tour guide will explain how 95 men lived and worked on Growler for up to three months at a time, never seeing daylight, never communicating with loved ones, and seldom showering. You will see up-close the sub's features, including two periscopes, the aft torpedo tubes, and the mess area where the crew ate and relaxed.

Please note the following requirements to enter the Growler:
- Must be in good physical condition – all guests are required to pass through our replica hatch for entry into the submarine
- Persons suffering from claustrophobia or related issues should not take tour
- You must be at least 40 inches in height
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times
- No wheelchairs or the use of any assisted mobility device
- Strollers, large bags or backpacks are not permitted
- No food or beverage allowed
