What are the costs of renting the venue?
Rental prices are quoted upon request and based on spaces used for the event. Additionally, in-house production costs, such as security, set-up, and breakdown crews, are itemized for each event and include all labor necessary to make your event a success.
How do I hold a date?
The desired date of your event can be placed on hold. Once the client confirms the event, the Intrepid Museum will provide a contract. A 50% deposit of the total fee is required. Deposits are non-refundable.
Is insurance required for events?
Insurance is required for each event. Specific insurance requirements are listed in the special event contract.
What time can my event start and end?
Rental fees are based on a four-hour event. Overtime charges will be incurred for each additional hour or portion thereof. Event set up may not begin until the museum closes to the public. Exceptions may be made depending on the production and with management approval.
Is there parking available for guests at the venue?
You may contract with an outside vendor for valet parking. There are commercial parking lots within walking distance of the Intrepid Museum.
Do you have any exclusive vendors?
Restaurant Associates is the exclusive caterer at the Intrepid Museum. From time to time, there may be other exclusive vendors, which the Museum will communicate upon initial inquiry. The Intrepid Museum also offers a preferred vendor list for any of your other event needs.
Can more than one event occur at the same time?
The Special Events department will determine the number of events that may occur simultaneously and will ensure that any one event will not be disrupted by another.
Is tenting permitted?
Tenting is permitted on the Flight Deck and the Pier.
Is security available for events?
Intrepid Museum security is required for each special event. Events requiring additional outside security must be approved by management.
Is smoking permitted at the Intrepid Museum?
New York City regulations prohibit smoking anywhere on the premises, including Pier 86. Individuals found smoking will be asked to leave the event and the premises. Smoking is permitted only outside the Museum Complex.
Does the Intrepid provide access for persons with disabilities?
The Intrepid Museum complex is ADA compliant, except for the Growler Submarine and the Concorde.
Can banners, signs, or other decor be hung in the event area?
Banners and signs are permitted for your event. Clients will speak to the event manager regarding specific rules and regulations. Existing museum signage cannot be moved. All event signage must be removed following the event.
Does the Intrepid have air-conditioning?
The interior of the Museum and the Space Shuttle Pavilion are air-conditioned and heated.
How can we support the Intrepid Museum?
By hosting an event at the Intrepid Museum, you are providing valuable support for the programs and services we offer.
