What are the costs of renting the venue?
Rental prices are quoted upon request and based on spaces used for the event. Additionally, in-house production costs, such as security, set up and breakdown crews, are itemized for each event and include all labor and equipment necessary to make your event a success.

How do I hold a date?
The desired date of your event will be placed on hold. Once the client confirms the event, Intrepid will send a contract and a 50% deposit of the total fee is required. Deposits are non-refundable.

Is insurance required for events?
Insurance is required for each event. Specific insurance requirements are listed in the special event contract.

What time can my event start and end
Rental fees are based on a four hour event. Overtime charges will be incurred for each additional hour or portion thereof. Event set up may not begin until the museum closes to the public. Exceptions may be made depending on the production and with the Director of Special Events approval.

Is there parking available for guests at the venue?
Valet parking is available for events. Please see our preferred vendor list. There are also parking garages within walking distance of the Intrepid.

Do you have any exclusive vendors?
Restaurant Associates is the exclusive caterer at the Intrepid Museum. Frost Lighting is the exclusive vendor for lighting within the museum. The Intrepid also offers a preferred vendor list for any of your other event needs.

Can more than one event occur at the same time?
The Special Events Department will determine the number of events that may occur simultaneously and will ensure that any one event will not be disrupted by another

Is tenting permitted?
Tenting is permitted on the Flight Deck and the pier. Please see our preferred vendor list for tenting companies.

Is security available for events?
Intrepid security is required for each special event. Events requiring additional outside security must be approved by the Director of Special Events and the Assistant VP of Protective Services.

Is smoking permitted at the Intrepid?
There is no smoking permitted anywhere on the premises, including Pier 86. Individuals caught smoking will be asked to leave the event. Smoking is permitted only outside the museum complex on 12th Avenue.

Does the Intrepid have access for persons with disabilities?
The Intrepid Museum complex is ADA compliable, except for the Growler Submarine and the Concorde Aircraft.

Can banners, signs or other décor be hung in the event area?
Banners and signs are permitted for your event. Please speak to the event manager regarding specific rules and regulations. Existing museum signage cannot be moved. All event signage must be removed following the event.

Does the Intrepid have air conditioning?
The interior of the museum is both air conditioned and heated.

Do guests of the museum receive a discount at the museum store?
Guests of events may receive a discount on items at the museum store. Specialty items can be created, pre-ordered and tailored to your company’s needs for event attendees. Please speak to your event manager to assist in this process.

By hosting an event at the Intrepid Museum, you are providing invaluable support for the programs and services we offer.
