Today the Intrepid will kick off its first of four special Power of One events supported by Intelius, a leading information commerce company. This program will feature a panel of celebrated artists in the cartoon and comics field including Herb Trimpe (Hulk/GI Joe), Liza Donnelly (The New Yorker), Raina Telgemeier (Babysitter’s Club) and Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz (Archie). This first event will host over 220 students in 5th-8th grade from schools throughout the city including IS 291, PS 48, PS 255 and PS 347 American Sign Language & English Lower School. In addition to the schools in attendance at Intrepid the event includes live video conferencing with MS 328 in Washington Heights and this event will have American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for program participants that are deaf. This Power of One will begin at 11AM after students finish their interactive tours with Intrepid’s education team and will take place in the ship’s magnificent Great Hall overlooking the Hudson river. |
