Former Mayor David Dinkins spoke with more than 200 New York City middle school students on Tuesday, May 11 in the Great Hall of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The students, who represent 35 schools throughout the five boroughs, are finalists in the Teaching Matters’ Voices & Choices program which gives students opportunities to speak out against social injustices.  The program is comprised of several competitions ranging from debates to a collaborative group project, where students will give presentations on what they believe are the most important Constitutional issues of the past decade.  The multimedia presentations took place at the Intrepid where they were judged by their peers and prominent members of the community.

Dinkins advised students how to find their voices within their communities and effectively combat social injustices.
