Fleet Week 2010 kicked off yesterday morning with the annual Parade of Ships up the Hudson River. The parade, which also included military fly-overs, featured ships from the Navy and Coast Guard, as well as Canadian vessels. The largest ship, the USS Iwo Jima, has docked next to Intrepid at Pier 88, where it joins the HMCS Athabaskan and the USCGC Katherine Walker.
These ships, as well as the ships at Homeport Pier in Staten Island and the Army Vessel LSV-1 at Intrepid’s Pier 86 are open for public tours through June 1st. Ships on Manhattan’s Pier 88 are closed on Sunday. |
