The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is one of America’s leading historic, cultural and educational institutions. Opened in 1982, the Museum, anchored aboard the former USS Intrepid, a national historic landmark, has welcomed more than 10 million visitors and currently welcomes almost one million visitors annually. The Museum's mission is "to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth." The Museum pursues this mission through a dynamic and enriching exhibition environment recounting human stories behind the machinery on display in relation to the service era of the Intrepid: in World War II, the Cold War, NASA recovery missions and three tours in Vietnam. In connection thereto, the Museum delivers a broad range of credible, innovative, and engaging educational programs supplementing classroom learning in history, science, and leadership as well as extensive public and proprietary programs honoring those who serve our country – all to inspire our youth.
The Intrepid Museum is looking for a Manager of Records and Data who will be responsible for managing the Museum’s constituent databases. In this organizationally recognized critical role, the Manager will work across multiple departments to standardize and implement processes and maintain systems that will maximize the effectiveness of constituent record keeping including gifts, grants, membership, admissions and event attendance. The Manager will be responsible for setting standards, creating reports and coordination of training programs. The Manager reports to the Senior Vice President, Institutional Advancement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop a plan to maximize the effective use of the Museum’s constituent databases
- Execute that plan in collaboration with users across the organization and with IT
- Serve as a central resource or “go-to” person for questions and issues regarding the databases.
- Coordinate training programs to ensure proficiency of end users Manage the integrity of the organization’s databases
- Create reports and queries, data exports and analytics as needed by various departments.
- Develop user documentation for system processes and procedures
- Work closely with IT to coordinate maintenance, data uploads and to troubleshoot problems with the data and/or the database products
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience; and a minimum of three years’ experience in a fundraising department, or with a fundraising database (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Common Ground, etc.). Must have a basic understanding of the needs of a sophisticated development office. Proficiency in data analytics, data extracts and presentation of summarized information. Experience working with SQL, Microsoft Reporting Services, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or other report-writing tools a must. Familiarity with web-based fundraising systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with development of computer based training programs. This candidate will have the ability to liaise with a variety of technical and operational personnel; strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. This person should be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and other overtime as necessary.
