Volunteers are an integral part of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Our volunteer staff work either with the public or behind the scenes in our education, exhibits, membership or special events departments. They share their time, abilities, knowledge, and enthusiasm by working with or explaining the Museum's superb collections to the public. The work is greatly appreciated by the Museum and is both rewarding and fulfilling to the volunteer.
Some of the tasks performed by the volunteers who work with the public include staffing the information and membership desks, acting as Explainers in the exhibition halls, conducting guided tours of the Museum, and assisting with educational demos and lectures. Volunteers who work behind the scenes make use of their clerical, technical, or research skills.
These are some of the opportunities that may be available: |
- Docents/Tour Guides
- Exhibit Explainers
- Greeters
- Information Desk Helpers
- Membership Desk Helpers
- Special Events
- Education Department Helpers
- Research Assistants
- Exhibit Department Assistants
- Aircraft restoration Assistants
