Pier 86 construction moving along smoothly!
- On October 2, 2008 the Intrepid is scheduled to return home to a state-of-the-art public pier. A park-like setting on Pier 86 will allow visitors to enjoy spectacular views along the Hudson River. Our brand new pier will feature a new glass elevator tower with direct access to both the Hangar and Flight Decks and will afford the museum endless event possibilities in this newly improved outdoor space.
Time Flies: Intrepid’s Aircraft Restoration Projects.
- The Intrepid’s helicopter collection has grown to six complete machines with the recent addition of our freshly restored UH-1A Huey and HUP-2 Retriever. Recently, the aircraft were hoisted aboard Intrepid after being shipped back from the Thomarios Company of Akron, Ohio where they had been restored.
Intrepid Sails to over 11,000 New York City Students!
- As the Intrepid Museum complex undergoes extensive renovation, the education team continues to bring its exciting hands-on programming to New York City schools. The Museum’s Education Department is pleased to announce they have exceeded their initial projection for school program bookings for the 2007-2008 school year!
