Each year the Intrepid Foundation honors the men and women of the Armed Forces during the world-famous New York City Fleet Week celebration.
In partnership with the City of New York, The Intrepid Foundation hosts the annual Fleet Week celebrations. Fleet Week is a week-long event, hosted over Memorial Day Weekend, honoring the men and women who serve our nation in the Armed Forces. The Intrepid Museum’s Founders, Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, inspired Fleet Week with their desire to pay tribute to the brave men and women who serve in uniform to defend our freedom. Each year vessels from all over the world visit New York harbor for the celebration.
Over the past 15 years Fleet Week has grown to an international event with ships visiting from as far away as Russia. The officers and crews of all visiting vessels and local military commands, including representatives from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, enjoy liberty in the City and are offered complimentary tours, receptions, crew parties, athletic tournaments, Yankees and Mets baseball games, Broadway shows and many other activities arranged by the Intrepid Foundation.
