After School Programming

To empower students with the tools to incorporate good character traits in their own lives, we offer I CARE (Intrepid Character and Respect Education), a 10 week after school program for students in 7 th -9 th grades. Teaching the six core elements of character is a main focus in this program with an emphasis in both recent history and literacy. Students discover how other people have used these character traits through hard work and commitment. Participants also learn how they can apply these character traits to their own lives. Students will fine tune their oral history skills by interviewing a veteran who has lived the six core elements of character during his/her service to our country. Students will complete this interviewing process by submitting a video recorded interview to the United States Library of Congress so thus becoming a permanent part of the Veteran's History Project.
