Intrepid Returns Timeline

Since Intrepid’s closure on October 1, 2006, the museum, our collection of aircraft and public pier have all undergone extensive renovation projects.  The final product is sure to astonish all who visit upon our re-opening which is fast approaching.

Intrepid will return to the newly re-built Pier 86 on October 2, 2008.  After her return, Intrepid will be connected to all four stair towers (one tower which includes a new elevator that can take visitors straight to the flight deck from pier level). Also during this time other utility and operational connections will be made and all interior exhibit construction will be finalized.

The new Intrepid Museum Complex will re-open to the public on Saturday, November 8, 2008.  The grand opening weekend will include giveaways, educational demonstrations, free public tours and much more!  Museum hours are still being finalized, so please check back to find out all the latest details of this historic event.

As we continue through Grand Opening week, the Intrepid Museum will hold a special Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.
