The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host its annual “Kids Week” from Saturday, February 19 – Sunday, February 27.  During “Kids Week,” children will have the opportunity to participate in dozens of fun, educational and interactive activities while they are on vacation during Presidents’ Week. 

This year’s “Kids Week” programming partners include the New York Mets, Ringling Brothers, PBS, American Girl Place, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, Puppetry Arts Theatre, Broadway’s The Addams Family, Billy Elliot, Rain and Lombardi, The Gap, Old Navy, Madame Tussauds, and more.

This year’s special events include:

Saturday, February 19:  Circus Weekend  Guest performances by Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Sunday, February 20: Circus Weekend  Guest performances by Ringling Brothers and Barnun & Bailey Circus.

Monday, February 21: Puppet Day  Guest performances by Puppetry Arts Theatre, Imagine Ocean the Musical, special appearance by Roscoe Orman from Sesame Street, arts and crafts, face painting and puppet-making activities. 

Tuesday, February 22: Broadway Performance Day  Guest performances by Broadway shows The Addams Family, Rain: A Tribue to the Beatles and Billy Elliot, as well as Rosie’s Broadway Kids.  Interactive games with members of Broadway’s Lombardi.  Face painting and arts and crafts will be available throughout the day.

Wednesday, February 23:  23rd PBS Kids Day  Guest performance by Gizmo Guys variety show.  Screenings of PBS Films throughout the day.  Appearances by PBS Kids characters, interactive displays and face painting throughout the day.

Thursday, February 24: Sports and Recreation Day  Special appearance by Mr. Met.  United States Tennis Association activities, interactive games with members of Broadway’s Lombardi, Dave & Busters prize giveaways and face painting throughout the day.

Friday, February 25: Fashion and Fun Day  The Gap and Old Navy fashion shows.  Guest performance by Freckleface Strawberry the Musical.  Special film screening from American Girl Place.  Madame Tussauds wax figures will be on display all day.  Face painting throughout the day. 

Saturday, February 26:
Science Weekend  Jenkinson’s Aquarium presentations with live animals, demonstrations by Liberty Science Center and LES Ecology Center throughout the day. 

Sunday, February 27: Science Weekend  Demonstrations by Liberty Science Center, New York Hall of Science and the United States Coast Guard throughout the day. 

In addition the special events and appearances, staff of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Education Department will lead interactive, education demonstrations throughout each day.

About the Museum
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum complex includes the 900-foot-long aircraft carrier ‘Intrepid’ with seven full decks and four theme halls; the guided missile submarine Growler; and an extensive collection of over 30 aircraft including the A-12 Blackbird, the fastest plane in the world, and the British Airways Concorde, the fastest commercial aircraft in the world. Guests can experience areas of the ship including the Flight Deck, Hangar Deck, fo’c’sle (commonly known as the anchor chain room), new multimedia presentations and exhibit collections, interactive educational stations and a state-of-the-art public pier. 

Guests to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum also can experience the 12,240 square-foot interactive Exploreum – which contains a variety of hands-on exhibits – that teaches guests about the different properties of the sea, air, space and living at sea as each relates to the ship Intrepid. In the Exploreum, guests can experience a flight simulator, transmit messages using Morse code, sit on the bunk of a crewmember, learn how the Intrepid turned salt water into fresh water and perform various tasks while wearing space gloves.

Active Military, Retired Military and Children Under 3: Free
All tickets are subject to a $2.00 facility fee.

Directions by NYC Metro Bus
Take cross-town buses west. M34 (34th Sts), M42 (42nd St.) or M-50 (49th St.) to 12th Ave. and Hudson River. Intrepid is a short walk North from the M34 and M42. The M50 drops off immediately in front of the Intrepid.

Directions by NYC Metro Subway
Take the A, C, E, N, Q, R, S, 1, 2, 3 or 7 train to 42nd St., then walk or take the M-42 West Bus to Hudson River (12th Ave). Walk North to Intrepid.

Directions from Water
Take New York Water Taxi to Pier 84 and walk a block north to the Intrepid Museum. Or from New Jersey take the New York Waterway to Midtown (38th Street) and walk north on 12th Ave to the museum.
