CELEBRATING SPACE, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

For the first time ever, a 3.5-foot LEGO® replica of the Space Shuttle Enterprise will go on display during the 2nd annual “SpaceFest” beginning on Friday, July 26th  at 10:00 AM at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), in Manhattan.

Enterprise model creator and LEGO® Master Builder Ed Diment will be available for interview from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

The model will be on display for three days during “SpaceFest,” from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM each day.

Made up of more than 50,000 LEGO® bricks, the unveiling of the new model celebrates the recent reopening of the Space Shuttle Pavilion at Intrepid.

Alongside the replica, SpaceFest visitors will also be participating in building a 6’x 6’ LEGO® mosaic which will recreate the iconic photo of Enterprise flying over Central Park.

Diment also designed and built the 22-foot-long model of the USS Intrepid, considered the largest LEGO® ship ever built, which is currently on display in the Museum’s Hangar Deck.

“SpaceFest,”which runs from Thursday, July 24 through Sunday, July 28, is afour day festival offering guests a variety of interactive displays, activities, exhibitions and presentations, as well as astronaut appearances, an astronomy night, and a free movie screening on the flight deck of the Intrepid.

All “SpaceFest” activities are free with admission to the Museum; activities taking place on the Pier are free and open to the public.  All events and appearances are subject to change.  For a complete schedule of events, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.
