The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a non-profit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine. The Mission of the Intrepid Museum is to promote the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming, in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.

We are seeking an organized, initiative-taking, communicative, and approachable individual who, as a full time Data Associate for the Research and Evaluation Team, will support team members in with data collection, entry, and manipulation for evaluation and research projects. While this team’s work primarily focuses on initiatives within the education / exhibitions / public programs department, projects do span the full Museum to include data collection and feedback about the general visitor experience at the Museum.

Projects within the scope of this position include, but not limited to, assisting with collection of data related to school and teacher programs, interacting with program participants and general visitors, conducting interviews and observations, entering data once collected and organizing data for further analysis, transcribing of audio captured interviews and/or focus groups, and assisting with user testing and prototyping.

This individual will coordinate logistics, scheduling, and materials for evaluation in conjunction with colleagues in departments Museum wide, collect data at the Museum and off-site at schools or other community venues as needed, and required to flex hours to work select weekends and evenings when programming is scheduled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data collection (via a variety of methods and approaches) in range of programming areas including those related to education, exhibitions, public programs, and the general visitor experience – inclusive of on-site at the Museum and off-site at community venues.
  • Data entry, data manipulation, data exporting, transcription of audio captured data.
  • Coordination of inter-departmental logistics and scheduling of evaluation projects.
  • Organization of evaluation materials and resources according to projects (both physically and digitally).
  • Flexing hours to collect data at select weekend and evening programs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Outgoing personality, enthusiastic, and approachable. Able to work collaboratively and flexibly. Demonstrated skills in data entry, spreadsheets, exporting reports, coordinating logistics, and scheduling. Multi-lingual preferred. Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, CRM Systems, Asana, Survey Monkey. Excellent organizational abilities. Flexible hours that include weekend and evenings.
