As an educational and cultural nonprofit institution, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum promotes the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join us as the full-time Education Coordinator to provide administrative support for Education department programs, including library programs, community groups, and afterschool programs, as well as associated staffing. Reporting to the Project Manager for Education, the Education Coordinator works closely with all divisions of the department including School and Teacher Programs; Access Programs and Accessibility; Community Engagement and Family Programs; Out of School Time Programs; and Public Tours and Talks to facilitate office operations that support program delivery.       

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating staffing of full-time and hourly staff, for the weekly programming schedule.
  • Working with School & Teacher programs to register attendees for teacher professional development and homeschool programming.
  • Coordinating registration for Community Engagement programs including: generating invoices, tracking required forms and processing payment.
  • Provide support to the Out of School Time Programs time by organizing reservations and following up with registrants for weekend, holiday and summer programming, organizing incoming application materials for teen leadership programs.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in the maintenance of the department’s programs and reports in the CRM software Tessitura for evaluation purposes.
  • Coordinating Education group arrival and orientation.
  • Answering general inquiries via phone and email.
  • Performing other duties as required by management.

Successful candidates will have:

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree
  • Deep knowledge of Excel software and confidence with other database software (Tessitura or similar).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi task effectively.
  • Excellent phone manner and confidence in public speaking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team member who is able to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments and with outside contacts. Candidates should have an interest in education and the Museum’s mission.

Bilingual a plus.
