The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum seeks a Lead Helpdesk Technician. The lead technician will be responsible for maintenance and resolution of all issues escalated to that level of the help desk including, but not limited to, intermediate network tasks; support for all ISASM networks and installation of business applications; facilitate all elements of ISASM backups including off-site storage. This position requires setting up and supporting audio/visual equipment including the use of Crestron systems. Daily duties and tasks will be assigned by the Help Desk Manager.
The essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Resolution of all high level and escalated help desk tickets.
- Maintenance and organization of wiring cabinets, closets and other technology areas.
- Management of spam filters and offsite data services (e.g., VPN, Blackberry).
- Management and resolution of Telephone and Voicemail issues, Avaya VoIP experience a plus. Training will be provided.
- Support all business desktop applications including Microsoft Office Suite, MAS 500, Raiser’s Edge and Patron’s Edge.
- Configure network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software and files.
- Perform network diagnosis, speed tests, redundancy and resolve any issues.
- Configure and trouble-shoot network switches and routers.
- Assist in the resolution of additional Help Desk tasks as required.
- Proactively monitor server event logs and resolve issues.
- Manage Active Directory structure.
- Support enterprise server environment.
- Assist with the operation of a full theater and more complex audio visual events.
- Setup and maintain video conferencing units and peripherals as needed.
- Perform other duties as required by management.
- Compose end-user and technical documentation as needed.
- Manage compliance of WSUS.
- Manage compliance of anti-virus server.
The ideal candidate will be well versed in the following: General IT Experience in Support of a Windows Desktop and Server Environment, Exchange 2003/2010, Microsoft SQL Server, Advanced Networking including VLAN’s, and Advanced Active Directory including scripting. Familiarity with Crestron and AMX control systems and point of sale hardware and software is helpful. SharePoint experience is a plus. Candidates should have the ability to manage and maintain professional wiring racks and have Network Diagram drawing skills.
Employee will need to climb ladders and go onto man-lifts, forklift trucks or any other equipment required to service equipment and wiring throughout the varied locations across the Museum complex. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. Employee must be able to pull cabling and all physical demands associated with this task. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Qualified candidates will also have an ability to understand sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, have strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization from line workers to senior management level, have strong critical thinking skills, have complex problem solving skills, be highly organized and have an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
