The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a non-profit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and other historic aircraft as well as a cold war era guided missile submarine. Opened in 1982, the Museum, anchored aboard the former USS Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark, has welcomed more than 1 million visitors annually since 2012. The mission of the Intrepid Museum is to promote the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming, in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.
 
The Intrepid Museum is looking for a Junior Video Producer.  This position reports to the VP of Marketing. The Intrepid Museum has a strong focus on education, history, and community engagement and utilizes video to help communicate this. The Junior Video Producer will support the Director of Video Production in the conceptualizing, filming and editing of internally produced videos including those for social media, newsgathering, exhibitions, fundraising and story- telling.   In addition, this role will design content for in house digital assets such as video screens.  The ideal candidate has a broad skill set that covers the whole range of production. We are looking for a team member willing to learn our system, and grow within a small team environment. This position would be suited for somebody who understands new technologies in video production and has a willingness to learn. .
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
Duties
Provide support to Video Producer as needed
Organize and log digital assets
Capture video for an array of programs and events to be realized through a variety of digital platforms (including Facebook,YouTube and Instagram) as well as offline channels
Produce and edit original content and cut existing materials into new edits
Provide file conversions for various departments
Manage and maintain inventory of equipment
Provide support for all stages of video production
Manage purchase orders and vender relationships
 
Required Skills
 
Highly organized
Ability to work on multiple projects
Ability to problem solve and work independently
Strong knowledge of preproduction and script development
Excellent communication skills
Strong working knowledge of video camera operation, lighting, and sound recording
Excellent understanding of post-production, editing and motion graphics
Skills in photography and knowledge of DSLR/ Mirrorless cameras
Able to handle basic color correction and Photo retouching
Creative thinker and design skills with the ability to produce animated GIFs.
Strong knowledge of digital delivery and trends (YouTube and Live streaming)
Strong understanding of file formats, as it relates to video production
Be able to stand and carry equipment for long periods
Experienced in managing multiple ongoing productions simultaneously and successfully
Willingness to learn new skills
 
Software Requirements
Mac Operating System
High proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Audition, Frame and Video Editing Software.
Microsoft Office
Performs other duties as required by management.
 
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Film and Television or related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Motion graphics and titling experience required.  Excellent understanding of digital media trends, with a good feel for what makes content shareable online. Must be able to work outside of normal business hours as job duties or assignment requires, sometimes with little or no advance notification. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and ability to meet tight deadlines is a must. Proof reading ability required. Ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills who is a can-do person who takes on tasks proactively and sees things through to completion. Keen interest in latest trends in social media and digital video platforms Demonstrated track record of high ethical character
