The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is an educational and cultural non-profit institution featuring the legendary former aircraft carrier and National Historic Landmark USS Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided-missile submarine. Since its opening in 1982, the Intrepid Museum has dedicated itself to a mission of promoting the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth. The Museum proudly welcomes over one million visitors through its doors annually and remains one of the most popular attractions in the United States.

Intrepid Museum is looking for a full-time Senior Graphic Desginer.  The Senior Graphic Designer will work closely with the Creative Director to help bring the brand to life through all collateral material, signage, imagery and advertising and will ensure that the integrity of the brand is present in all facets. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and as an integral part of a growing team, give feedback and mentor junior designers when needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute ideas from concept to final creative
  • Design development for marquee public programs identity
  • Prepares illustrations, rough sketches, or sample layouts for various creative assets.
  • Prepares final mechanicals to support production requirements
  • Works closely with various department contacts to obtain feedback and refine designs
  • Ensure that all collateral is brand-right
  • Ensure design consistency and quality across print and digital media
  • Maintains image resource files
  • Develop flash and video media to be programmed on screens in and around the museum complex.
  • Maintains a positive work environment with high creative standards

Performs other duties as required by management.

Qualified candidates will possess a BA degree in Graphic Arts or related field with 3-5 years of experience in a studio environment on both print and digital platforms. E-Commerce Design + UX experience a plus. Photography/Photo Shoot experience a plus. Ability to Articulate and present creative ideas. Proven ability to manage relationships and drive process in a team environment. Self-starter, must be organized and able to act and follow through on projects independently. Ability to reprioritize projects and work flow based on business needs. Strong typography and color skills a must. Strong wireframing skills a must. Expert knowledge of Mac OS and master in Adobe Creative Suite. Experience in HTML, Javascript, Google Analytics, CMS, Wordpress, Email Marketing. Illustration skills a plus.
