The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is an educational and cultural non-profit institution featuring the legendary former aircraft carrier and National Historic Landmark USS Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided-missile submarine. Since its opening in 1982, the Intrepid Museum has dedicated itself to a mission of promoting the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth. The Museum proudly welcomes over one million visitors through its doors annually and remains one of the most popular attractions in the United States.

Intrepid Museum is looking for a full-time Manager-Business Development.  Reporting to the SVP of Business Development, the Manager will provides project support to the Business Development Department in order to assist the Museum in monetizing its assets and programs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the role include assist and support SVP, Business Development in department functions including:

Sponsorship

  • Conduct preliminary research to identify and prioritize potential corporate sponsors.
  • Maintain database of prospective corporate sponsors, including past and ongoing communication
  • Develop sponsorship proposals in coordination with other Museum departments for exhibitions, programs, events and other Museum activities
  • Participate in meetings with current and prospective sponsors
  • Coordinate and track corporate sponsorships, from contract execution to benefits fulfillment.
  • Develop high quality sponsorship reports in a timely manner in coordination with various internal departments.

Vendors and Concessionaires

  • Assist in the management of existing vendor relationships including the Museum Store, Museum cafes, photography partner, and simulator partner.
  • Ensure existing vendor relationships are meeting both financial goals and minimum standard requirements.
  • Assist in growing existing vendor relationship and developing new relationships to further the Museum’s mission and goals.
  • Prepare regular reports relating to vendor performance
  • Participate in regular meetings with vendors regarding performance, initiatives, programs and opportunities

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Composes and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents.
  • Tracks contracts and other documents through the approval process, securing appropriate signatures.
  • Coordinate invoicing activity on behalf of Department, including the processing of purchase requisitions and invoices
  • Facilitates preparation and filing of Business Development related documents including contracts, term sheets and proposals.
  • Create and maintain database and spreadsheet files.
  • Follow up communications(phone, email & in person) with potential Sponsors, Partners
  • Manage and execute benefits relating to current museum sponsors.  Create letters, emails and summary reports for ongoing communications with sponsors.  Capturing sponsor elements on site via photography to include in various reports and presentations.
  • Conducts background research, internally or externally, as directed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Performs other duties as required by management.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other overtime as necessary. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient computer knowledge, including proficiency with word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software. Demonstrated track record of high ethical character. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage and track multiple project schedules and related financial data.
