From Basic Training to Boot Camp: Intrepid Campers Explore Life at Sea

Today, Monday, June 13 Camp Intrepid kicks off Summer 2011 with its first one week session: “From Basic Training to Boot Camp.”
From June 13 through June 17, Campers will become a part of Intrepid’s “crew” and discover the wonders of life at sea. Kids will learn what it takes to live and work on an aircraft carrier.
Camp Intrepid 2011, for kids ages 5 to 13, is a multi-week, full-day summer day camp jam-packed with hands-on activities, museum exhibit exploration, and interactive weekly themes that include:
Our Universe: June 20 – 24
Underwater Exploration: June 27 – July 1
Intrepid Through the Years: July 11 – 15
Ancient Navies and Armies: July 18 – 22
A Pirate’s Life: July 25 – 29
Intrepid Inventors: August 1 – 5
Space Trekkers: August 8 – 12
A Pilot’s View: August 15 – 19
Mission Intrepid: August 22 – 26
Campers enjoy the fresh air and sunshine on Intrepid’s Flight Deck and Pier 86 with everything from project-based investigations, like cooking with solar ovens and constructing bottle rockets, to ship-shape activities like relay races and tug of war. Camp Intrepid is the most unique way to Explore, Discover and Learn!
