Education Programs for Camp Groups

The Education Department offers three programs specifically designed for camp groups during the months of July and August.

  • Life Aboard: History & Social Studies, grades K–12, 60–90 minutes
Campers explore the history and technology of Intrepid and learn how the crew lived, worked and played aboard this floating “city at sea.”

  • Let’s Take Flight, Aviation Science, grades 3–12, 90 minutes
Groups trace a timeline of aviation history by looking at advances in human flight, from propeller planes to jets. Students evaluate aircraft design, parts of a plane and paint schemes featuring nose art and camouflage.

  • What Floats Your Boat? Water Science, grades 3–12, 90 minutes
Students discuss how a 42,000-ton ship is able to float and then experiment making their own buoyant boats.
Programs are offered at 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm, Monday–Friday (subject to availability).

Capacity: 30 students, 6 chaperons. Larger groups will be divided.
For more information, including pricing, or to reserve an education program for your camp group, call 646-381-5169 or email schoolreservations@intrepidmuseum.org.
