Intrepid 101
 

Explore the history of Intrepid from 1943 through 1974. Visit the hangar deck and flight deck, and get a close look at the Museum’s collection of aircraft. Hear the stories of those who served aboard this mighty aircraft carrier.

Recommended for: Visitors ages 10 and up

Length: 60 minutes

Price: $300 + museum admission (up to 20 people per guide)

This tour requires long periods of walking and standing. The Museum offers seating on the hangar deck and flight deck. Lightweight, portable stools are available upon request. This tour is wheelchair accessible.

Anchors Aweigh: Family Tour
 

Discover the mighty Intrepid, from the sea to the sky and all the stories in between! Hear about the artifacts in the Museum’s collection, and learn what it was like to be part of the flight deck crew. On this fun, interactive tour, young visitors and their grown-ups learn about life aboard the ship and how a crew of 3,000 men formed a city at sea.

Recommended for: Families with young children ages 5 to 12. No adults without a child will be allowed on the tour.

Pacific War: USS Intrepid in World War II
 

Intrepid was a World War II battlefield, a place the war was fought and won. Travel with the ship through the major events of the Pacific War, and learn about the courage and sacrifice that defined the Greatest Generation.

Recommended for: Visitors age 12 and up

Length: Approximately 100 minutes

Price: $450 + museum admission (up to 15 people per guide)

This tour requires navigating stairs and ladders and includes long periods of walking and standing.

Rolling Thunder: Intrepid in Vietnam 1966 to 1969
 

In April 1966, Intrepid was the American aircraft carrier that seemed least likely to play an attack role in Vietnam. Hear how the crew of Intrepid overcame challenges during the ship’s three tours of duty in the Vietnam War.

Recommended for: Visitors age 12 and up

Length: 90 minutes

Exploring Space: Project Mercury, Enterprise and Beyond
 

See Enterprise, NASA’s first space shuttle and one of only four in existence. Hear about the triumphs and tragedies of the space shuttle program, examine a space-flown Russian Soyuz capsule, and learn about present and future ventures in space travel.
 

Recommended for: Visitors age 8 and up

Length: 60 minutes

Intrepid Women
 

Learn about women’s changing roles in the U.S. military from the 1940s to present day, reflecting the intrepid spirit of the iconic phrase “We Can Do It!”
