I really loved the decor for a holiday party that a bank client held this winter in our hangar deck spaces. Hangar 2 can typically accommodate up to 700 guests, and hangar 2 can hold up to 1,200 for a standing reception. So how do you make these spaces feel both sophisticated and cozy at an event for only 200 guests?
Luckily, our spaces can easily become a blank slate, and multiple rigging points allow talented creatives to work their magic. Event designer Michael Day was able to create intimate box vignettes using long fringe curtains that reached from the ceiling to the floor. Inside them he placed simple lounge pieces on soft flooring. The illusion of bright, stand-alone rooms within the larger darkened space was further emphasized by projecting the company’s bright logo directly onto the fringe “walls.” The fringe elements were also hung over the central four-sided bar, but only halfway down, which made for an elegant canopy.
The minimalist motif continued to the rectangular dining tables, which had hurricane candles placed in lofted ”hutches.” These centerpieces created a double height that helped to visually break up the large space of hangar 3.
It was surprisingly easy to rig, which made us venue managers breathe a huge sigh of relief. But more importantly, the fringe made our spaces look absolutely fabulous!
