One of the most fun aspects of working in New York City as an event planner is all the unique and unusual opportunities we have to network with other business professionals. We get some of the hottest behind-the-scenes tickets to other noteworthy and iconic institutions to talk best practices, market trends and future goals.
Enter one of our long-time connections at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Patti Golden. She and her team graciously invited us to visit them at Ellis Island, another historic institution here in New York, to learn the ins and outs of its event spaces. One of the things that we at the Intrepid Museum and our friends at Ellis Island have to consider is the delicate balance between serving as an event venue and preserving the historic integrity of our spaces! After a calm (preferably so) boat ride on a gorgeous summer day, we were treated to a tour of the facilities and lunch overlooking the Registry Room. Just like on Intrepid, we were struck by the historic importance of the space and beautiful views of the city.
Our Statue of Liberty crowns weren’t too shabby either!
