As an educational and cultural nonprofit institution, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum promotes the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth. Located in New York City on the Hudson River, the Intrepid Museum was founded in 1982 with the acquisition of the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark. Welcoming one million visitors annually, the Museum also features the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine.

We are seeking a passionate, organized and detail-oriented individual to join us full time as an Associate, Individual Giving and former crew member relations. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Associate works closely with all divisions of the individual giving team and institutional advancement department to support museum-wide fundraising efforts.      

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage relationships and solicitations for grassroots funders, who contribute up to $500 annually to the Intrepid Museum
  • Conduct research on prospective supporters, which includes creating profiles, prospect lists, and facebooks reports, among other prospect research tools
  • Serve as the point of contact for Intrepid and Growler’s former crew members, which includes attending weekly meetings, participating in the Museum’s oral history committee, arrange visits for former crew members and their families, and more.
  • Coordinate monthly stewardship efforts for individual giving team and Vice President of Institutional Advancement, which includes managing contact lists
  • Complete cover sheets for gift entry use and prepare tax-acknowledgement letters
  • Assist with production of annual fund appeals, which occur twice a year, once in the spring and at the end of the year
  • Coordinate details for VIPs and Former Crew Members Museum visits, which could include securing tickets, greeting and assembling gift bag when appropriate, and managing visitation data in Tessitura
  • Support cultivation events organized by the individual giving team and larger IA department
  • Create fundraising and stewardship reports and other database reports
  • Maintain individual donor and prospect files as well as data in our CRM, Tessitura
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Individual Giving

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, demonstrated professionalism, and experience multi-tasking. Experience working with Tessitura or other client or customer database is a plus, but is not required. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and proactive team member with strong written and verbal communication skills who is comfortable liaising with high-profile individuals.
