The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is proud to introduce its Seats of Honor Program.
Seats of Honor, a special theater seat naming program is now available to members of the public who wish to honor an American’s military service.
Friends and Family of former and current United States Military members are invited to sponsor one of the 243 seats in the Allison and Howard Lutnick Theater and create an enduring link to Intrepid’s past, present and future.
What is now a state of the art movie theater was originally the USS Intrepid’s forward aircraft elevator, used to transport aircraft between the ship’s hangar and flight decks and as a vital recreation space for the ship’s crew.
Today, Museum visitors start their Intrepid Experience in the Theater and there, are introduced to the proud history of the ship through a visually dramatic video presentation.
Names inscribed on the theater seats will be seen by hundreds of thousands of Museum guests and innumerable special guests who attend speaker series and other high profile events in the Theater.
To today’s visitors and future generations, Seats of Honor inscriptions will serve as a continual reminder of the importance of duty, sacrifice and heroic individual service while allowing Intrepid to continue its mission to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.
