Air Force Week kicked off with a formal ceremony on Intrepid’s Flight Deck, with participants including Secretary of the Air Force, Michael B. Donley and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly. And the Thunderbirds - the USAF Aerial Demo Team -performed an impressive fly over to open the ceremony.
Performances varied from the precision of The Air Force Drill Team to the high energy Air Force band Max Impact, who rocked the pier. Visitors on the pier also enjoyed interactive displays such as the Stealth Tour and Air Force Special Operations Command, while checking out the Air Force OCC Chopper and NASCAR.
The action continues with pier displays through Thursday, an HH-60 landing on the Flight Deck on Wednesday, musical performances and even Security Forces Working Dog Demonstrations. And Intrepid’s celebration of Air Force Week closes Friday night with a FREE screening of Iron Man on the flight deck.
