The 2009 Intrepid Holiday Salute concluded this week and all the items collected at the Intrepid over the last three weeks will be shipped off to our brave troops along with giant holiday cards signed by thousands of visitors to the Museum.
Donations, which included items such as sunscreen, toothpaste, shampoo, playing cards and snacks, will be sent to help meet the needs of our service members and remind them that they are in our hearts and minds during this holiday season.
"The Intrepid is thrilled to be able to send the items collected during our Holiday Salute to the brave men and women of our military,” offered Bill White, President of the Intrepid Museum and Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. “We are proud that so many of our visitors donated items and signed these cards to help bring some holiday cheer to those defending our freedoms around the world."
A local New York City Union that wishes to remain anonymous, even going so far as to refuse a photo, donated over 130 boxes of items through the Holiday Salute.
Credit Suisse also collected items for the 2009 Intrepid Holiday Salute and several Credit Suisse employees were on hand to help box and ship the donations to our troops.
Visitors to the Museum also were able to donate frequent flier miles through the Hero Miles program and learn more about the Intrepid Family of Foundations.
