Tour Guide Talks, Intrepid Museum’s bite sized video tour series, continues with Senior Tour Guide, Fontaine Piper and the design innovation of the TBM Avenger.

The TBM Avenger was one of the primary aircraft flown from USS Intrepid during World War II. During the development of the Avenger, Leroy Grumman was faced with a dilemma: how to best fold the aircraft’s wings to accommodate its rather expansive wing span. Watch this video to learn how Grumman’s innovative design solved this challenge:
