The Intrepid Museum remembers John Glenn, a national hero who served as a fighter pilot, astronaut and four-term senator. Glenn was the first American to orbit Earth, a feat that inspired his country and fueled decades of discovery. His lifetime commitment to exploration, knowledge and public service stands as a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
A native of Ohio, John Glenn is the ninth person in history to lie in state at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. He will be honored at a memorial service at Ohio State University’s Mershon Auditorium at 2:00pm on Saturday. Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak at the service, along with officials from all facets of Glenn’s career.
