The Intrepid Museum’s 2nd annual SpaceFest is underway, with demonstrations and displays from partners including NASA, Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds, RoboFun, Pixel Academy, the New Victory Theater, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Liberty Science Center, Honeybee Robotics, Coca-Cola, Amateur Astronomer’s Association of New York, 501st Garrison, and 3D Systems. The four-day celebration of space, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), and innovation, is happening at the Intrepid Museum through Sunday, July 28.

Explore exhibits from Math Midway 2 Go, part of the Museum of Math, including a photo booth gone wild, the Number Line Tightrope, Ring of Fire, and the No Left Turn Maze. Learn about robotics with FirstRobotics and the Grove School of Engineering at CCNY. Recreate an iconic image of space shuttle Enterprise with LEGOs. And get up close and personal with Samuel L. Jackson, thanks to Madame Tussauds New York. And of course check out the recently reopened Space Shuttle Pavilion, featuring Enterprise.

Current and former astronauts Ellen S. Baker, Charles J. Camarda, Lee M.E. Morin, Jeffrey Hoffman, and Mario Runco, Jr., along with aerospace technician Tim Keyser, are scheduled to be on hand, signing autographs and giving presentations. Meanwhile, Pier 86 will come alive with robotics demonstrations, educational presentations, the unveiling of LEGO Space Shuttle Enterprise, an inflatable climbing wall, and, on Sunday, Star Wars characters will be on hand for photo opportunities.

As part of the 2nd annual SpaceFest, we’re inviting all museum guests to send us photos from their SpaceFest experience. You can submit photos online or share them on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #SpaceFest, and we will display these photos in an online gallery. And if you participated in last year’s SpaceFest, also feel free to share those pictures!

NASA will have an active presence at SpaceFest, and its exhibit, Innovate – Explore – Discover – Inspire, will highlight NASA's missions to understand and protect Planet Earth, conduct research on the International Space Station, extend human reach into deep space, and to explore our solar system and beyond.

All activities taking place on Pier 86 are free to the public, while programs and activities inside the Museum and the Space Shuttle Pavilion require purchasing Museum admission. The Intrepid Museum will have extended hours throughout SpaceFest, open 10:00am to 6:00pm from July 25 to 28.
