Join NASA and the Intrepid Museum to learn about NASA’s missions through interactive displays. At the 2nd annual SpaceFest, starting today, NASA will allow visitors to see models of future aircraft, watch a demonstration on the effects of high altitude flight, build the Space Launch System rocket, travel the lunar surface with Moon Quest, and more.

These interactive displays will be part of NASA’s exhibit for SpaceFest called Innovate – Explore – Discover – Inspire, which highlights NASA's missions to understand and protect Planet Earth, conduct research on the International Space Station, extend human reach into deep space, and to explore our solar system and beyond.

Other partners on hand for the four-day SpaceFest include 3D Systems, the Amateur Astronomer’s Association of New York, local robotics teams, Liberty Science Center, Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds, and Honeybee Robotics. Pier 86 is open to the public and full of robotics demonstrations, educational presentations, an inflatable climbing wall, and both Star Trek and Star Wars characters will be available for photo opportunities.

As part of the 2nd annual SpaceFest, we’re inviting all museum guests to send us photos from their SpaceFest experience. You can submit photos online or share them on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #SpaceFest, and we will display these photos in an online gallery. And if you participated in last year’s SpaceFest, also feel free to share those pictures!

Current and former astronauts Ellen S. Baker, Charles J. Camarda, Lee M.E. Morin, Jeffrey Hoffman, and Mario Runco, Jr., along with aerospace technician Tim Keyser, are also signing autographs and giving presentations. All activities taking place on Pier 86 are free to the public, while programs and activities inside the Museum and the Space Shuttle Pavilion require purchasing Museum admission. The Intrepid Museum will have extended hours throughout SpaceFest, open 10:00am to 6:00pm from July 25 to 28.
