On Sunday, July 26, the Intrepid Museum will host a special Meet the Pilot event during the Space & Science Festival!
Former NASA astronaut Pamela Melroy, one of only two women who commanded the space shuttle, will share her experiences with journalist Lynn Sherr. Melroy piloted two shuttle missions—STS-92 in 2000 and STS-112 in 2002—and logged more than 38 days in space.
A former test pilot in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Pamela Melroy has more than 200 combat and combat support hours. Her impressive career includes serving as crew module lead for the Columbia Reconstruction Project, deputy project manager for the Columbia Crew Survival Investigation and branch chief for the Orion Branch of the Astronaut Office. In 2013, she joined the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
The Meet the Pilot event will take place in the Allison & Howard Lutnick Theater on Sunday, July 26, at 1:00pm. Following the event, Intrepid Museum members are invited to a special meet-and-greet with Pamela Melroy. To join as a member or to register for the meet-and-greet, call 646-381-5030 or click here.
