Camp Intrepid has officially begun! This week is all about Sailing the Ancient Seas. Our campers are becoming navigators, cartographers and astronomers as they learn about old and new techniques for sailing ships.
Our campers, pictured here, visited the captain’s bridge and talked to Paul Grigonis, a volunteer at the Intrepid Museum and former crew member of USS Boston, where he worked in the engine rooms. Earlier this week, the campers went stargazing in our portable planetarium and learned how to use the stars to find their way. They also designed their own ships for 3D printing!
During our next session (July 6–10), campers will become explorers and learn about the countries Intrepid would have visited during its time in service—all without leaving Pier 86!
We have many exciting themes planned for the rest of the summer, and it’s not too late to sign up! Visit our Camp Intrepid page to learn more.
