Volcano
Campers make a volcano during last year's Camp Intrepid.

More than 60 campers have come aboard Intrepid for Camp Intrepid’s Winter/Spring sessions so far, and there’s one more week scheduled for April 14-18, featuring the theme “Dark Side of the Moon.” During the February school break, campers took advantage of all the activities during the Intrepid Museum’s Kids Week 2014, for the first week of Camp Intrepid Winter/Spring. They watched Broadway performances, got up close and personal with exotic animals, traveled the world with Ports of Call, and took part in crafts and activities from Kids Week partners including Time Warner Cable Interactive, the Central Park Zoo and Hudson River Park Trust.

Campers were able to examine (and try on) artifacts from our touch collection during Camp Intrepid Winter/Spring 2014.

The following weeks of Camp Intrepid taught campers about aviation and what life is like at sea. From April 14-18, for the “Dark Side of the Moon” theme, campers will discover the mysteries of the sun, planets and moon, and how they affect Earth. Campers may tackle activities including making their own constellations, creating unique designs using sun print paper, inventing individual solar ovens, and testing activities to determine the affect microgravity has on our bodies. There are a few spaces available; click here to learn more.

But while our Winter/Spring Camps are wrapping up, Camp Intrepid Summer 2014 is just getting started! Registration is now open for all nine week-long summer sessions, which include themes such as Journey to the Sun, Intrepid Inventors, Pirate Life and Space Exploration.
