Fleet Week Rocks, Swings and Kicks!

Fleet Week Sunday at Intrepid featured more amazing performances and perhaps one of the more interesting military athletic competitions we’ve seen in a while.
The day started off with members of the different military branches competing in an inflatable jousting competition right on Pier 86.  Taking place on an inflatable mat, each opponent stood on their own pedestal and tried to push each other off using their jousting sticks.  Members of Team Intrepid even got into the action, battling each other and members of the military.
The world famous Radio City Rockettes then took to the stage, teaching Fleet Week visitors – and even some of our military – how to do their famous kicks.  Next, music filled the pier courtesy of the band Vinilo, playing their own blend of Latin Rock.  And who better to close out Intrepid’s Fleet Week stage then The George Gee Orchestra. Swing dancing actually broke out on Pier 86 as the Big Band sound filled the complex.
