Fleet Week at Intrepid is off to a great start!

Friday kicked off with the Coast Guard’s Search and Rescue Demonstration.  The demo took place out in the Hudson River and was narrated by the Coast Guard at Intrepid’s pier.
Following the demo, Broadway took over Intrepid’s main stage at Pier 88.  The ladies of Lend Me a Tenor hosted our Broadway Showcase, which featured performances from Promises Promises, American Idiot, Addams Family, Hair and Million Dollar Quartet.
And the music continued with the Northeast Navy Show Band – performing classic and contemporary jazz and patriotic selections.  If you missed this, they are back performing at Intrepid this afternoon at 3:30pm.
The musical performances rounded out with Pastry Band Salutes the Troop – hosted by Vanessa and Angela Simmons.  Jessica Jarrell, Broadway Dance, Aaron Fresh and Jessie James all took the stage for our Fleet Week celebration.
And we finished Friday with the kick off of Intrepid’s Free Summer Movie Series and a special screening of Top Gun on our Flight Deck.  What better way to celebrate Fleet Week and the start of the Memorial Day Weekend!
