Seats of Honor
This Memorial Day, as a grateful nation remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will dedicate 13 new Seats of Honor in the Museum’s Allison & Howard Lutnick Theater. The honorees include a Commanding Officer, a Communications Officer and a Radioman who all served together on Intrepid in the 1970s, a U.S. Marine who landed on Iwo Jima, and an aviator who flew Avengers from Intrepid during World War II.

The Seats of Honor program pays tribute to current and former members of the U.S. military and provides vital support for the Intrepid Museum as we seek to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth. The legacies represented by these 13 new Seats of Honor will be shared with our more than one million visitors each year and will live on at the Museum for generations to come.

Each seat is dedicated with a brass plaque engraved with a personal message, and dedication ceremonies are hosted each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
