This Month in Intrepid’s History
Teachers are an integral part of the educational work at the Intrepid Museum. Hundreds of amazing teachers bring their students to the Museum each year and thousands of students are affected by the educators who participate in our professional learning workshops. We would like to thank all educators for their dedication to student learning and highlight two outstanding teachers involved in Intrepid Museum programs.

Bala Dhareneni is an 8th grade science teacher at KAPPA Middle School in the Bronx. She is an active member of our STEM Advisory Committee which works to promote best practices in science, technology, engineering and math education for our GOALS for Girls program.

Peter Sacco is an 8th grade social studies teacher at Myra S. Barnes Intermediate School 24 in Staten Island. He has been an invaluable partner with us in the Cultural After School Adventures (CASA) program for several years.

Thanks, Bala and Peter!

Also, this summer, we have several free upcoming events for teachers:
  • Chancellor's Day—Thursday, June 5: Join us for a program on salinity, water testing and using real world data in the classroom.
  • Intrepid Museum’s Space & Science Festival—Saturday, July 19: We will be hosting STEM workshops and some exciting guest speakers.

To inquire about these programs please contact the Museum’s Education Department at schoolprograms@intrepidmuseum.org.
