Meet the Pilot: Gregory C. Johnson in conversation with Mike Massimino
2:00pm
Space Shuttle Pavilion
Meet and Greet: Gregory C. Johnson
3:30 pm
Flight Deck
Two space explorers are visiting the Museum during Fleet Week!
Gregory C. “Ray J” Johnson and Mike Massimino will be on deck to discuss the T-38 Talon, a supersonic aircraft on display at the Museum. Sit beneath Enterprise, and learn how the Talon was used to train astronauts in the space shuttle program.
Johnson, a NASA astronaut and former Navy pilot, has logged more than 10,800 flying hours in 50 aircraft—including the Talon. He and former astronaut Mike Massimino flew together on space shuttle Atlantis for the final mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. Hear their stories about flying the Talon, the latest addition to the Museum’s collection.
After their talk, Johnson will be available to talk with visitors one-on-one on the flight deck. Don’t miss your chance to meet this accomplished pilot and ask about his flying experience on this planet and beyond.
