The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is hosting the visit of the sailing vessel Ocean Watch from October 3 to October 8 as part of the Around the Americas ocean health scientific and educational expedition (www.aroundtheamericas.org). This bold 24,000 mile expedition around North and South America is designed to alert an international community about the severe threats facing our oceans. New York is a major port stop before heading to South America and around Cape Horn.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and the United States Navy have deep and meaningful connections to our oceans and the conservation of the oceans is tightly linked to national and global health, peace and prosperity. The Intrepid and Around the Americas are proud to host this special presentation about this expedition and its most recent accomplishment – the successful transit through the Northwest Passage. This is an intimate opportunity to view the boat Ocean Watch, meet the crew, and learn about the science and education related to this timely ocean health project.
