The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will use its 40-foot long video wall to simulcast NASA’s historic announcement on where it will choose to retire three of its Space Shuttle Orbiters on Tuesday, April 12, currently scheduled to happen between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Exact timing of the announcement is controlled exclusively by NASA.
The Museum is offering free admission on Tuesday to any guest wearing their favorite space-themed clothing.
Intrepid is one of several institutions nationwide vying for one of three orbiters, the Atlantis, Discovery and Endeavour.
Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner will be joined by Museum employees, volunteers and Former Intrepid Crew Members, as well as members of the general public, to watch the announcement.
Intrepid currently has no information on whether it will be one of the sites selected by NASA to receive a Space Shuttle. For the most up to date information on the timing of the announcement please continue to check www.intrepidmuseum.org.
Offer is ONLY available for walk up admission, not to be combined with advance purchases, group purchases or museum membership. Offer is valid only on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. |
