Skyray Move

Stage 1

During late July, the Skyray will be loaded onto a flatbed tractor trailer for an over-the-road journey of about 25 miles . The Skyray’s 25 foot wingspan will overhang the trailer sides considerably. This will require a careful route plan and an escort by the Connecticut State Police. This road journey will take the Skyray from the airport to a preselected pier along the Connecticut River, near Hartford.

Stage 2

After its flatbed ride and arriving at the pier near Hartford. The Skyray was transferred to a barge to begin its three-day (30-hour trip) journey down the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound to its new home at the Intrepid Museum.
